10 skincare new year resolutions

New Year, new beginnings! A great time to be grateful for what you have and plan for the future! A time to think about what you want to experience and what you want to change, what you want to achieve, and how. In other words, the New Year’s Resolutions! Here are ten ideas for your New Year’s Resolutions in skincare:

1. A daily skincare routine

This is more important than getting the latest, most expensive serum, and the benefits are amazing in the long run. Even if you are in your early 20s or your 50s, you need a daily skincare routine that you can commit to. It can be as simple as cleansing and hydration or more elaborate with cleanser, toner, serum, moisturising cream, eye cream, and so on. It can be once a day or twice a day. Consistency is the key here. Patience too! Don’t change skincare products after just a few applications (not unless they are not suitable for your skin type). Use the same products for at least 2 to 3 months before moving on to something else. A good skincare routine should deliver results within six months, so, yeah, it takes time, but it is totally worth it!

2. Never leave the house without putting on an SPF cream

Some of us learned this lesson the hard way and only discovered the benefits of the SPF cream after getting pigmentation spots. You can start now! In winter and the colder months, you can try something like ASAP CC Cream with SPF15, and it should be enough. During summer, you can switch to Aspect Sun Hydrating Face with SPF 50. Your skin will be protected, and you can enjoy a youthful complexion for longer.

3. Don’t let acne get in your way

Fighting acne can become a full-time job if you don’t have the right tools. This year commit to being acne-free. It might sound terrifying, but it is totally possible. See a skin therapist or a dermatologist, change your perspective, anything it takes. You deserve to smile when you look in the mirror! These products can help too: Alpha-H Beauty Sleep Power Peel, Dermalogica Active Clearing Clear + Brighten Kit and StrataDERM Scar Therapy Gel 10g.

4. Try a facial mask at least once a month

The experts recommend using a facial mask every week, even twice a week, depending on the skin type; however, even once a month is good enough. If you have been avoiding face masks because you thought nobody has time for this, 2020 is a good time to change this! How about putting on a luxurious mask such as the Alpha-H Liquid Gold Ultimate Perfecting Mask just before turning on the TV for your favourite show? Ten minutes later, you can rinse it off and enjoy the benefits. If ten minutes is too much, there is another option that needs no more than 5 minutes to make a difference - Thalgo Ultra Hydra-Marine Mask – and it has a brush tip! There are many options available, and you can use them to address your skin concerns such as dryness, breakouts, pigmentation spots, etc.

5. Give facial massage a chance

It might sound like another time-consuming routine, but actually, you don’t need more than a few minutes a day. And the benefits range from a more even skin texture to improved elasticity and fewer wrinkles. This should give you a reason to smile every morning, just before applying the serum for your facial massage! To make the experience even more pleasurable and luxurious, try the Aspect Super Serum or the Cosmedix Simply Brilliant 24/7 Brightening Serum.

6. Try something new this year

The thrill of the new discovery! The excitement! The promises! Oh, you totally deserve it, at least every once in a while. It can be a new skincare product or a new type of treatment. We suggest the LightStim LED Light Therapy for Wrinkles. In just a few minutes per day, you can improve the texture of the skin, get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, and refine the pore size. It is a system easy to use, store, and even travel with.

7. Sleep more

Yes, retinol is magic, and the vitamin C serums are certainly a must-have, but nothing is as important for your skin as getting enough sleep at night. And this is non-negotiable. There is nothing you can do to replace a good night's sleep. So, this year, aim to get enough sleep to have a glowing complexion. It really makes the difference! Just think about the Sleeping Beauty…

8. Eat more fruit and vegetables

We look for antioxidants in skincare products, and this is great, but they should also come from our diet. Make it a habit to eat fresh fruit and vegetables every day. Get an apple for your snack before lunch, a banana before going to bed, some fresh spinach with your dinner, after a while you will get used to it, and it will show on your skin!

9. Drink water

Dull-looking, itchy skin, dark circles under the eyes and visible fine lines, these are just a few symptoms of skin dehydration. Skin dehydration is not particular to a specific skin type, and it can occur just as often for people with dry, oily, or combination skin. If you are confronted with any of the symptoms mentioned before, the first thing to do is to increase the water intake. No, we don’t mean coffee, black tea, or another type of carbonated or caffeinated beverage. These could actually increase the level of dehydration. Choose water, herbal infusions, and freshly squeezed juices.

10. Don’t worry! Be happy!

Believe it or not, this can considerably improve the way you look! Anxiety and stress can put a strain on your beauty, too, so try not to worry too much in 2020!

Happy New Year 2020!
